Today I was reading a post about Tina Turner and how she saved her life by leaving Ike Turner. Yes, I saw the movie many years ago, but this post really hit home today. I was literally in tears because I remember the day I had to disappear and save not only my life but my 17-month-old baby daughter.
I was terrified, but I prayed so hard and then I started to feel numb inside. This gave me the strength I needed to leave my abusive marriage. It wasn't easy, but God was by my side.
Tina Turner was such an inspiration. It took her a while to gather the strength to leave her husband, but when she did, there was no turning back. I think all women should watch her movie and also pray without ceasing. Leave that man when he least expect it. Put some plans in place. Save your life because nobody is going to do it for you. If you are terrified of your spouse finding you, move out of state.
You may not have money to move or escape your abuser, but go to a battered women's shelter and they will help you a lot. That is what I did, and it changed my life forever. Domestic violence hotline 1-800-799-7233
Here is the video about my story and how I left my abusive husband. It was over 30 years ago but some tips are still valid today.
